Beautifully crafted words capture the imagination,
painting colourful pictures in the mind.
A vibrant creative from an early age, Sooz first carved a successful career in radio and television as a talented wordsmith. Winning the prestigious Double M and Golden Stylus awards.
Following her husband from the city to the outback of Australia, Sooz left her successful career behind her, to start a family and begin a personal journey of discovery. A creative journey that took her from the pen to the paintbrush!
Often seen painting in an artrageous hat, shirt or fairy wings, Sooz is largely a self taught contemporary artist. Her works in acrylics, charcoal, inks, pastels and watercolours are as effervescent as the artist herself.
Passionately believing that an artist learns best by having the courage to explore and create within any medium, she encourages beginners to develop techniques and embrace those “happy accidents” without fear of failure. It is this wonderful enthusiasm and extraordinary optimism that inspires both her students and her peers.
Sooz often draws upon her background in advertising when writing artist statements and coordinating exhibitions and fundraising events. Sooz has a strong community spirit and has facilitated art experiences for over 600 primary school children, with positive tactile outcomes on both paper and canvas. This culminated in two highly successful exhibitions that raised thousands of dollars for the lucky primary school.
Securing a position as an Arts Facilitator in the disability sector, Sooz spent the next 17 months enthusiastically exploring creative processes with a dynamic group of intellectually disabled adults. During this time, Sooz nurtured individual artists and facilitated the growth of the arts program through multiple exhibitions and networking with the wider community.
Sooz is currently working on multiple projects and continues to push the boundaries as both a writer and an artist.
